Early Learning Lab
The Early Learning Lab (ELL) is a collaboration of the Center for Child Development and the University of Alaska Anchorage, Department of Teaching and Learning Early Childhood Program.  Under the supervision and guidance of UAA professors, pre-service teachers, majoring in Early Childhood will attend class on site at CCD and will observe, plan and implement activities with our young children.

The mission of the ELL is two fold:  to prepare/educate/train pre-service teachers in a high quality environment; and to co-construct knowledge and refine best practices that improve the field of early education in our communities throughout the State of Alaska. The ELL is committed to engaging in meaningful, interdisciplinary research that makes a difference in the lives of children and families, preparing high quality childhood teachers and providing exemplary early education programs.

The Center for Child Development (CCD) at Providence Alaska Medical Center is a non-profit Early Childhood Education Program. The center was developed by the Sisters of Providence with the mission to provide a quality, licensed, enriched child development service to employees, community affiliates, and their families.

In keeping with the mission of supporting the basic need of families, the Center provides educational opportunities that focus on the child and assist in their development of a positive self-concept. The children are allowed to explore and discover in a happy, caring environment as well as mature through social activities and develop a positive self-image. Through modeling, the staff provides families with effective parenting practices that are respectful to the child, consistent, and developmentally age appropriate.

As an Alaskan Early Childhood leader, Providence Center for Child Development networks with and supports other community agencies, facilities, and organizations in order to meet the State's early childhood needs in the most caring and respectful manner.
