Providence Behavioral Health and Providence Alaska Medical Center offer neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessment services for older adolescent (16 and older), adult, and geriatric individuals. Clinical neuropsychology is a specialty profession that focuses on examining the effects of brain and spinal cord injury, and diseases of the central nervous system on cognitive, intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
Our comprehensive evaluations seek to provide insight into how diseased or injured neurological structures affect an individual’s functional capabilities. In turn, this information is used to make differential diagnoses, treatment recommendations, rehabilitation planning, and inform educational issues.
The Providence neuropsychology service is unique in that we work closely with skilled medical and mental health professionals, both within the Providence healthcare system, as well as in the community, to provide the most accurate, up-to-date, integrative, diagnostic hypotheses regarding an individual’s current functional level, and make relevant suggestions and recommendations based on an individual’s circumstances.
Who might undergo neuropsychological/psychodiagnostic testing?
Individuals are referred for evaluations by numerous referral sources, including physicians, psychologists, other mental health clinicians, educational institutions, insurance carriers, and several government agencies. Evaluations are conducted for a wide variety of reasons and situations, including:
