Pediatric Therapies at Providence

When a child needs special therapies, it is important to work with a team of specialized professionals.

Pediatric Therapy services at the Children's Hospital at Providence are delivered by an experienced, multidisciplinary team made up of licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists. We provide physical, occupational and speech therapy services to children from birth to 18 years of age, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Our goal is to help each child reach their fullest potential so that they may succeed at home, at school, and in their community.

Our team of therapists work together as a multidisciplinary team to address each child's individual needs. The child's parents, physician an other professionals such as a dietician, teacher, or social worker may also be included in the development of the child's individual treatment plan and therapy goals.

We are one of the few facilities in Anchorage that offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy services at one convenient location.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Physical therapists at the Children's Hospital at Providence are trained to offer a number of unique services. For example, the team will work with the patient, the family, and the vendors to recommend the proper fit and function for manual or power wheelchairs.

If adaptive equipment is recommended, the therapist is trained to recommend alternative seating or positioning systems, assistive devices, and safety instruction to improve your child's functional abilities and independence. Our Pediatric Physical Therapists provide:
  • Evaluation and treatment of developmental motor skills
  • Evaluation and treatment of orthopedic conditions
  • Evaluation and treatment of neurological conditions
  • Orthotic consultation and fabrication
  • Wheelchair consultation
  • Therapeutic equipment consultation
  • Consultation services for home programs
For conditions requiring splints or orthotic fittings and casting, our therapist evaluates, fabricates, and modifies upper and lower body splints to optimize your child's development.  The team can also handle design and casting for custom orthotics which are then produced by local or out-of-state orthotists.  Follow-up assessment of fit and function are handled locally.
