Parenting With Providence


 
Our parenting and childbirth classes are taught by highly qualified professionals with specialized training in early childhood and prenatal education. We are here to support new and experienced parents in the wonderful and challenging journey of parenthood.

Online Class Registration
For classes that require registration, you can now register online. Simply click on the "Register" button and provide the requested information. To view the current schedule, click on the "Parenting with Providence" booklet to the right.
 
Saturday Mornings with Dad
This is a FREE class for new fathers and infants (birth to 15 months) who will spend time interacting with other fathers, infants and trained facilitators. Topics discussed will depend on what is happening with you and your baby, but will likely include infant development, sleeping and eating schedules, and your role as a father. Fathers will share their triumphs and concerns on becoming a new father in a supportive, casual, and friendly environment.
 
When: Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Where: Maternity Education Center: Entrance #5 (3400 Health Drive) Parking is available in front of the building. For registration, please call Providence Maternity Center at (907) 212-8474.
 
Postpartum Support Alaska  [learn more about postpartum]
Over 25% of Alaskan moms suffer from depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum.  We can help you determine your risk and treat your symptoms.  Postpartum Support Alaska facilitates a mom to mom support group.
 
When: Class meets every Monday: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Maternity Education Center: Entrance #5 (3400 Health Drive) Parking is available in front of the building.
 
This is a free service for all new moms adjusting to pregnancy and postpartum. Share secrets, struggles, and survival tips. You can bring your babies if you like.

Maternity Center Tours
We strongly encourage all expectant families to attend one of our conveniently scheduled tours of the Maternity Center. Tours begin at the OB Triage desk at the following times:
  • Monday: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday & Saturday: 1:30 - 2:00 p.m.
Tours are free and require no registration. If you cannot attend one of these tours, please contact Labor & Delivery at (907) 212-3611.

Refunds, Withdrawals, or Cancellations
If your course is cancelled, you will be referred to other courses, or your fee will be refunded. If you are unable to attend a course, please call Providence Maternity Center at (907) 212-8474 at least one working day before your scheduled class if you wish to obtain a refund. No refunds will be given for partial attendance at any course or if you fail to call and cancel in advance.
