Providence Alaska Neuroscience Center combines compassion, dedication and clinical excellence to deliver outstanding evidence-based care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical disorders. Providence’s stroke team is led by
Dr. Robert Lada, the only board certified vascular neurologist in Alaska. The stroke team includes board-certified neurologists, neurosurgeons, endovascular and interventionally specialized physicians, neuropsychologists and physiatrists. The team provides acute and rehabilitative services for patients with disorders of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.

Throughout the diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative processes, the neuroscience staff works closely with other physicians and therapists as needed to develop an individualized and comprehensive course of care designed to meet each patient’s unique needs. Our outstanding nursing staff includes an experienced team of nurses with the only certified neuroscience nurses in the State of Alaska and is unrivaled in providing expert compassionate care.
Providence Uses State-of-the-Art Stroke Telemedicine
Through Providence’s Emergency Stroke Care, neurologists use advanced techniques and technology in the comprehensive assessment and management of neurological conditions including the state-of-the-art Remote Evaluation of Acute isCHemic stroke (REACH) diagnosis and evaluation system. In 2009, Providence became Alaska’s hub hospital offering web-based telemedicine stroke care statewide. REACH allows local neurologists to remotely diagnose and recommend treatment for stroke patients in rural areas via an Internet connection.
