Long Term Care

The Care Center team at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is committed to providing excellent long-term care for those who are unable to live independently.
Here is our ministry promise:
  • Compassion, tenderness, harmony, and healing of the soul are at the very heart of our Care Center Family
  • We serve with integrity and respect to nurture and enrich and celebrate the lives of one another
This is our sacred work.

We are a 19-bed facility that has been in operation since January 1978. Our residents range from short-term (i.e., recovery from a fractured hip) to long-term (i.e., severe brain damage from strokes). Residents must meet established criteria to reside here.

Appropriate placement is determined by substantiating a need for 24-hour nursing care. People who need more than minimal assistance with taking care of their daily needs (such as eating, grooming, and moving about) are considered for placement in the Care Center. The Care Center has 9 double rooms and 1 private room. Most residents eat together at tables in a common dining room. We also have a TV lounge, family room, fireplace, piano, reading area, and activities room.
