Media Policies & Guidelines

 
Providence Health & Services Alaska welcomes the opportunity to work with the media. For information or to schedule an interview with a Providence employee, please call the Communications & Marketing Department at (907) 212-3145 during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
After hours, on weekends and on holidays, the on-call public relations staff member should be contacted via the Media Phone at 907-212-6083.
 
Media Guidelines
Because the care of patients must always remain our primary responsibility, including maintaining a patient's right to privacy and confidentiality if that is what he or she desires, Providence Health & Services Alaska requires all representatives of the media to coordinate interview and photography requests ahead of time by contacting Communications & Marketing. After the request is received, a staff member will quickly determine whether an interview is possible and, if it is, will coordinate the arrangements, including meeting and accompanying the media representative during his or her visit.
 
Photography
No photos or video of patients may be taken without a Communications & Marketing staff member first securing written permission from the patient.
 
Patient Privacy
The Providence Alaska Medical Center follows the American Hospital Association guidelines regarding patient privacy issues contained in the Health Insurance and Portability Act (HIPAA).
