The Providence Maternity Center knows that you want the best of everything for your new baby. That's why we have the Nursing Boutique & Clinic
. We are committed to provide every family the education and support they need to make breastfeeding a great experience.
Before your baby is born
Plan on attending one of our monthly "Breastfeeding 101
" classes. This class, taught by a certified lactation consultant, will teach you what you need to know to get breastfeeding off to a great start.
In the delivery room
Our labor and delivery nurses are trained to help you with your baby's first feeding.
On the Mother-Baby Unit
Our mother-baby nurses are all trained to help you with breastfeeding 24 hours a day.
One of our board certified lactation consultants will check on you to see how breastfeeding is going. They are available 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., seven days a week (except major holidays).
Once you are home
Not sure if breastfeeding is going just right? Come in for a private consultation with one of our lactation consultants in the Nursing Boutique & Clinic. Call 907-212-5886 to make an appointment.
This parent and baby group meets every Monday, Thursday and Saturday from noon-1 p.m. in the Maternity Center classroom in the Heritage South Building Entrance No. 5. This is a great place to meet other moms, dads and babies and learn from everyone's experiences. The Saturday group does not meet during the summer months.
