Special Procedure Room
The staff and administration at St. Elias are always seeking ways to provide the most professional and patient centered care possible. In October 2015 St. Elias launched the special procedure room to provide a variety of interventional radiology, respiratory, and minor surgical procedures. The inclusion of these procedures have improved the patient care provided, by keeping the patients in house and avoiding the stress of transporting them to the acute care facilities for completion of these procedures.
St. Elias is currently providing patients with insertions of tunneled infusion and dialysis catheters, Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy tube (PEG tube) placements, paracentesis and thorocentesis as well as flexible bronchoscopies. To aide our speech therapies department we are performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS).
As we continue to look for additional ways to improve services we anticipate the addition of pain management and anesthesia services CT and ultra sound guided procedures.
