Meet the Team

At Providence, you'll have access to a vast network of dedicated and compassionate providers who offer personalized care by focusing on treatment, prevention and health education.

Why Choose Us for Your Neurological Care?

We provide our patients with a full continuum of neurological care – all close to home in your local community hospital. We believe that our unique and often isolated geography is our call to action to not only offer these services but continue to enhance and expand them. Outstanding care is just one of the reasons we treat so many patients diagnosed with neurological conditions. Here are five more:

We are Alaska’s premier and only DNV-accredited Primary Plus Stroke Center, which shows our dedication to providing the best possible stroke care. As part of that commitment, our nurses continuously refresh their training to ensure we are treating stroke patients according to the best practice guidelines. No other regional neurological program has nurses with this level of training and expertise.

After treatment, you receive the same dedicated care. We coordinate with Providence St. Elias Specialty Hospital to offer acute rehabilitation therapies. This may include speech, occupational and physical therapy to help you regain your mental and physical strength following surgery or other treatments.

At Providence, we have Alaska’s first and only state-of-the-art neuro hybrid biplane room with specialty surgical as well as advanced imaging systems. Here, our neuroscience specialists can get real-time patient imaging data to integrate with clinical information. This means they can efficiently diagnose and treat acute neurologic conditions such as stroke and ruptured aneurysms, getting you on the road to recovery that much faster. In the biplane room, our neuroscience specialists provide both minimally invasive and open treatments for stroke, aneurysms, carotid stenosis and other neurologic conditions.

We take a team-based, personalized approach to care. Your competent and distinguished doctors develop long-term relationships with you throughout – and beyond – your treatment. Depending on your condition, a range of neuroscience experts could be on your care team, from neurologists and neurosurgeons to neuroradiologists, interventional radiologists and neuropsychologists. Our subspecialists work together to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs and supports the best outcomes.

At Providence, we are committed to providing access to the best care to everyone in our Alaskan community. We respect and support the racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual and spiritual identities of each of our patients. In keeping with our Mission, Providence offers financial assistance programs that provide free and low-cost care to those who are eligible.

We also offer services such as translation for non-English-speaking patients, community outreach, and financial counseling and assistance. And we use telestroke to provide virtual, 24/7 care for hospitals throughout Alaska.

Every patient at Providence benefits from our deep expertise across numerous neurology and neurosurgery subspecialties. We are part of a collaborative network that includes award-winning physicians, scientists, researchers and caregivers across 51 hospitals in seven states.

As part of this network of care, we use telehealth to connect with experts throughout Providence, so many patients don’t need to leave Alaska to receive the care they need. We also have an easy-access transfer center staffed by nurses with a true understanding of Alaska’s geographic and weather challenges. This coordinated effort helps patients across the state get the care they need faster. The power of our network is one of the reasons so many people choose Providence Alaska Medical Center Neuroscience Center for their neurological care each year.
