Alaska CyberKnife Center at Providence Cancer Center
The Providence Cancer Center is committed to bringing Alaskans the most advanced cancer care treatments right here at home.
If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, your physician will consider the type of cancer you have, your medical history and other factors to determine what treatment will produce the best results for you. A treatment option that may be recommended is radiation therapy.
The Providence Cancer Center has the most advanced and extensive radiation therapy treatment options available in Alaska. Our team of board-certified radiation oncologists, together with compassionate nurses and other highly skilled expert caregivers develop treatment plans unique to each patient. One of our newest treatment options is the CyberKnife System
What Is CyberKnife?
The CyberKnife System is a painless non-invasive radiation therapy technology that delivers high doses of radiation with sub-millimeter accuracy. It tracks and automatically corrects for a patient’s and tumor’s movement during treatment delivery. This pinpoint precision minimizes damage to surrounding healthy tissues while allowing much higher doses of radiation during each treatment session. Treatment is typically completed over the course of one-to-five days with one treatment per day.
CyberKnife is a painless and effective non-surgical treatment option for cancerous and noncancerous tumors throughout the body.
With the CyberKnife System, we can treat a number of cancers, including:
- Head and Neck
- Metastatic cancers
- Recurrent cancers
The CyberKnife System can also be used to treat the following non-cancerous conditions:
- Trigeminal Neuralgia
- Aterio Venous Malformation
- Acoustic Neuroma
