When you come to Providence Alaska Medical Center for your orthopedic needs, you get expert care from a team of dedicated professionals. Working together, we treat all types of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries in adults and children. Our goal is to help you return to being active and pain-free.

We recognize that you have unique needs. We work to address those needs in a way that will be easiest for you and result in the quickest possible healing. We offer classes before your surgery to help you prepare and home health services afterward to help with your recovery when you leave the hospital. We also offer a highly experienced staff and specialized care.

Joint Replacement

Our joint replacement team helps you prepare for your procedure and educates you about what to expect before, during and after surgery. Our program services include:

Before surgery:

  • Pre-operative class for you and your caregiver coach
  • Comprehensive handbook highlighting each step of the procedure and healing process 
During your procedure:
  • Customized joint program patient rooms on our dedicated orthopedic unit
  • A designated rehabilitation area to better assist post-operative treatment 
After surgery:
  • Coordinated services with physical and occupational therapists
  • Comprehensive outpatient therapy services 
  • Home health care services if needed

Joint Camp Class

One of the Joint Replacement Program's primary goals is to educate patients and their caregivers about what to expect before, during and after surgery. Patients scheduled to have knee or hip replacement surgery should plan to attend our 1½ hour class. A new virtual version of each class is available below.
