Providence Medical Group Pediatric Genetics

The Genetics Clinic accepts referrals for children up to the age of 21. Clinics are being held for 2-4 days once every other month. Providers come up to Alaska for clinic days from the Oregon Health and Science University. A typical appointment is approximately one hour long. A Certified Medical Assistant, Genetic Counselor and Geneticist work as a team before and during the appointments, which include the following components:

  • Height & weight measurements
  • Family history & medical history
  • Physical exam
  • Discussion
  • If recommended, genetic testing (blood draw at the laboratory)
